Looking at the image above, you might think to yourself, "What the heck?!?" This is an image of the amount of precipitation over the last 7 days. You can see the vast majority of rainfall has occurred much closer to the Gulf of Mexico, along the Panhandle. But you can see that Central Alabama has received anywhere from 2 to 4 inches of rainfall with some areas perhaps seeing as much as 5 inches in isolated spots. The U.S. Drought Monitor will release its next update on Thursday morning. It will be interesting to see how this week's rain has influence the drought situation.
