Looking Toward the Weekend

Don't count on much rain. But take your umbrella just in case....... Hello, I'm Chief Meteorologist, David Sawyer.

Fall is officially underway. However, the next several afternoons will feel more like summer. Typically for this time of year, the high temperature is 80 degrees with an overnight low of 57.

For your Friday, an approaching frontal system will give us a continued chance of scattered showers or thundershowers. Highs will be in the mid 80's. Friday night high school football will have comfortable temperatures in the 70s by the end of the game. Expect a slight chance of showers at your game field Friday evening.

Saturday, expect a 20% chance for showers. Otherwise, it will be a very warm day for football partly cloudy with temperatures in the mid to upper 80's. If you are heading to Starkville, MS for the UAB vs. Mississippi State game, there will be a better chance of rain during the afternoon and early evening. For the Alabama Homecoming Game vs. Houston, there is a slight chance of showers during the afternoon. Expect the same weather conditions at the Auburn vs. Vanderbilt game.

On Sunday, the UAW Ford 500 will have very warm track conditions with partly cloudy skies and highs in the upper 80s in the stands.

UPDATE ON THE TROPICS: We are continuing to watch an area of Low pressure in the Central Gulf of Mexico. Several computer models have this Low moving West anywhere from Eastern TX into Central Louisiana. Upper level winds are still pretty strong. Therefore, tropical development (if any) should be slow. Stay with CBS 42 and we will keep you updated.
