Arctic Air is Here!

The Arctic Air is here and its time for you to bundle up. Hello, I'm Meteorologist, Lauren Whisenhunt.

RED FLAG WARNING IN EFFECT FROM 11 AM UNTIL 6PM. DEWPOINTS CURRENTLY IN THE SINGLE DIGITS. ALL OUTDOOR BURNING IS STRONGLY DISCOURAGED.

HARD FREEZE WARNING IN EFFECT UNTIL 10AM THIS MORNING. HARD FREEZE WARNINGS ARE ISSUED WHEN TEMPERATURES ARE EXPECTED TO FALL IN THE MID TEENS OR LOWER.

We are starting off with bitter cold temperatures this Thursday morning. Overnight lows dropped into the teens.

Haleyville: 9
Hamilton: 12
Birmingham: 14
Jasper: 15
Pell City: 16
Anniston: 17
Cullman: 12

Definitely bundle up in your winter coat and don't forget your gloves as you head out the door.

Expect mostly sunny skies today along with daytime highs in the low 40's. Yesterday, Birmingham didn't get above the freezing mark (32 degrees). BRRR! We will be a few degrees warmer today. I'm going with a high near 40. Tonight will be another clear and very cold night. Overnight lows will drop into the upper teens in the coldest valleys and the low 20's in downtown. Be sure to protect your Pipes, Plants and bring your Pets inside tonight because temperatures will be well below the freezing mark once again.

High pressure will slide further eastward come Friday and we will begin to pick up more of a southerly flow. Therefore, temperatures will warm up about 10 degrees than what we'll see today. Expect mostly sunny skies on Friday with daytime highs near 50.
