Cold Start to Work Week

Keep your winter coats handy this week as temperatures will be more seasonable for this time of year. Hello, I'm Meteorologist, Lauren Whisenhunt.

To start off our Monday morning temperatures are ranging from the mid-20's to the low-30's. We are going to experience more seasonable temperatures this week compared to the well above average temperatures last week. Typically this time of year, daytime highs are in the low 50's with overnight lows near the freezing mark.

A dry frontal system moved through our area yesterday, which reinforced the colder air over Central Alabama.

Daytime highs this will will climb into the low 50s under mostly sunny skies this afternoon. Brisk northwest winds will make it feel quite chilly blowing between 10 and 15 mph.

Tuesday, another dry cold front will move through the CBS 42 viewing air with another surge of cold Canadian air. Highs on tomorrow will struggle to reach the upper 40s.

For the middle and latter part of the work week, an area of low pressure is expected to form in the Gulf of Mexico. With cold air in place, there is a possibility that some of this system's moisture may change over to snow. It is too early to speculate how much wintry precipitation we may receive. Therefore, please stay with CBS 42 for the latest forecast as we track the development of this low pressure system in the Gulf of Mexico.

Overall, we expect chilly conditions with below normal afternoon temperatures in the 40s even into our next weekend. Bundle up!
