Work Week Warm Up!

Near Record High Temperatures expected this week. Hello, I'm Meteorologist, Lauren Whisenhunt.

It is going to feel more Spring-like today with temperatures about 20 degrees above average. Typically we have daytime highs near 53 degrees with overnight lows around 33. That is not the case the next couple of days as highs reach the lower 70's. A strong Southerly Flow will continue to draw in warm, moist air and will help the temperatures soar to near record levels today.

Record High Temperatures for Today:

BIRMINGHAM 74 1989
ANNISTON 73 1989
TUSCALOOSA 77 1989
MONTGOMERY 79 1989

Expect breezy, southerly winds today 5-15 mph due to a pretty tight pressure gradient between an approaching Cold Front from the West and an area of High Pressure to the East.

Tomorrow, a Cold Front will approach us from the West and bring some much needed rain to Central Alabama. The question is: How much rain? and How strong will some of the thunderstorms be? We could see the development of some strong storms as the Front moves through late Tuesday Night. Stay with CBS 42 and we'll keep you posted!

Wednesday we will see conditions improving somewhat with partly cloudy skies. However, another system will approach on Thursday giving us a good chance for showers and thunderstorms.
